Most artists began drawing as kids. Until a few years ago I could only draw stick figures.
After too many years in non-arty jobs, living here, there and everywhere (always with a camera in my hand) I returned to Adelaide to study.... ART.
Well, not quite. I had dipped my toe in the world of fashion design, then realised - in a light bulb moment - that, instead of battling with a sewing machine, I could conjure up any design on paper, free from limitations! That was how I discovered illustration.
I spent a year teaching myself to draw by copying the fashion illustrations I most loved (Georges Barbier and Erte, especially). With new found confidence, I went on to formal study in visual art, illustration and animation and digital design.
I enjoy detailed line work, experimenting with paint and mixed media and approaching art-making with a sense of play. My preferred subjects are fashion and costume, with a particular leaning towards vintage theatre and classical cinema. I'm also a francophile and am very drawn to the french aesthetic.
As I've learned, it's never too late to find your niche!

I lived in a canal house in Amsterdam. My entry was under the stairs - historic and tiny!
